Homicide Investigation Update

The Pennsylvania State Police Troop H, Newport Station is conducting a murder investigation in connection with the discovery of human remains in the area of SR22/322 w/b approximately 2.5 miles E. of the Newport Exit, Howe Township, Perry County, PA.

  On September 09, 2010 a person discovered what appeared to be human skeletal remains.  An autopsy was conducted and this death was ruled a murder. 

  A forensic examination revealed that the human remains discovered were that of a white female, estimated 25-45 years of age, approximately 4'08-5'06 tall.  The victim also had brown hair.

  On 02/07/13, PSP Newport was informed by The University of North Texas Center for Human Identification (UNTCHI) that DNA samples submitted from Jane DOE was a match for missing person Teresa Mae Ware, Age 38 of Hinds County Mississippi.   Ms. Ware went missing in April 2010 and was last known to be in the company of a commercial truck driver from Pennsylvania. The murder investigation is ongoing.

  The Pennsylvania State Police Newport, in cooperation with the Perry County Coroner's Office, FBI, Philadelphia Police Department in Mississippi and Ms. Ware's family members has assisted in the identification of Ms. Ware.  Plans are being made to reunite Ms. Ware with her family members.
