Search for homicide attempt suspect
North Yorkshire Police said Mr Bennison was evading arrest
A search is under way for an "extremely dangerous" man wanted in connection with an attempted homicide.
North Yorkshire Police said a 27-year-old woman was stabbed at a house on Healey Grove, Huntington, York, on Friday afternoon.
She suffered multiple wounds, including a punctured lung, and is in a stable condition in hospital.
The force is searching for the woman's boyfriend, Michel Bennison, 28, and has warned people not to approach him.
Officers believe Mr Bennison, who they described as "extremely dangerous", is still in the York area and have asked people to report any sighting of him immediately.
'Hand yourself in'The force originally appealed for help to trace Mr Bennison on Friday morning, before the stabbing, when they said he was wanted on suspicion of committing a number of offences, including possession of drugs with intent to supply and assault.
A spokesman said he had been hiding from police for two weeks.
Mr Bennison is described as white, 5ft 10in tall, with short brown hair, blue eyes and a strong build. He is said to have a wide nose and a noticeable mole on both cheeks.
Det Insp Shaun Page said: "Michael... I cannot urge you strongly enough to hand yourself in to the police as we need to speak to you as a matter of urgency. You are only making matters worse for yourself by not speaking to the police.
"Anyone who knows where Bennison is, or may be shielding him, must contact the police immediately. You are not helping him and may even be committing offences yourself.
"If any members of the public see Bennison they should not approach him, rather they must call 999 immediately."
