A man who was charged with the murder of a man in Peterhead has been released pending further inquiries.
Aaron Arthur, 31, died on Monday 17 December in the town's Longate area.
Michael Geddes, 35, appeared at Peterhead Sheriff Court charged with murder last week, when he made no plea and was remanded.
A Crown Office spokesman told the BBC Scotland news website on Monday that Mr Geddes had now been "liberated pending further investigation".
Stevie Angus, 25, had also been charged with murder in connection with the same case.
He is due to appear in court for a second time later this week.
