Two held over ditch body murder

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man's body was found in a ditch in Surrey.

Surrey Police said an officer on patrol discovered the body at Imber Cross, Thames Ditton, on Friday morning.

The man, who has not yet been identified, is believed to be aged in his 30s.

A spokeswoman for the force said two local men, aged 46 and 35, had been arrested on suspicion of murder and were due to be questioned.

'Early stages'

She added: "Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team has launched a murder investigation following the discovery of the body of a man in a ditch in Thames Ditton.

"The body was found by a police officer on patrol in Imber Cross at around 9.45am this morning.

"A post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death is due to take place at Royal Surrey County Hospital tomorrow.

"The investigation is in its early stages and inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the death."

The force has appealed for anyone with information about the incident to contact officers.
