Possible homicide at Santa Cruz campsite, suspect arrested

Police in Santa Cruz are investigating a potential homicide that took place in the city on Saturday night.

Officers responded to a report of a possible homicide at a campsite south of Depot Park at about 10:55 p.m., according to Santa Cruz police.

Arriving officers found a 51-year-old man at the camp who was pronounced dead, police said.

A preliminary investigation led police to arrest a 26-year-old man in connection with the death.

The name of the suspect was not released, and the name of the victim was being withheld pending notification of his relatives.

Anyone who might have information about the case is asked to contact the Santa Cruz Police Department.
