HPD: Heavily intoxicated driver charged with manslaughter

A Houston woman accused of driving with a blood-alcohol content nearly four times the legal limit is in the Harris County Jail on a charge of intoxication manslaughter.

Pamela C. Dixon, 44, was westbound in the 4600 block of the South Sam Houston Parkway East service road about 2:30 p.m. Nov. 6 when her Honda Accord collided with a stopped Ford pickup that was hauling a trailer, according to the Houston Police Department.

Alan Jeffery Mininni, 26, of Sugar Land, who was driving the Ford F250, stepped outside his vehicle, which was possibly stalled, HPD said in a news release.

As Mininni was standing outside his vehicle in the service road center lane, Dixon's silver Honda Accord hit the trailer.

Mininni was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he died, the release said.

An officer at the scene said Dixon exhibited the smell of alcoholic beverages and had slurred speech as well as blood-shot eyes, according to court records.

Dixon failed a field sobriety test, and a blood test showed that her blood-alcohol content at the time of the accident was more than 0.3, records state. The legal limit is 0.08.

She admitted having consumed two beers before the accident and to driving 40 mph to 60 mph on the service road, records state. Her bail is set at $ 30,000.
