MINNEAPOLIS -- Police are investigating a homicide after finding a body in a Minneapolis alley.

Police were called to the alley behind the 3000 block of Girard Ave. N. around 11 p.m. Saturday.  When they arrived, they found the unresponsive body of an adult male.  Medical efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.

Police say their preliminary investigation indicates the victim was assaulted.

Authorities say they will release the victim's identity and cause of death after their investigation.

Minneapolis police are asking anyone with information about the case to call their tip line at 612-692-TIPS.
