Homicide inquiry over missing woman
Police have launched a homicide investigation over the disappearance of missing a Auckland accountant last seen 12 days ago.
There have been no sightings of Bin "Cissy" Chen since 5.30pm on Monday 5 November when she supposedly went for a walk from her Torbay home on the North Shore.
Her partner told police the 44-year-old often went for walks on Long Bay beach but on Monday did not return.
Despite police land, sea and air searches and a public appeal last week, no trace of Chen has been found.
There have been no public sightings.
Detective Senior Sergeant Megan Goldie said yesterday that police were still working on the case, with a lot of people still to talk to.
"If get new information we will start the physical search again. But at this stage we have run out of places to look," Goldie said.
This morning police said the investigation had been upgraded to a homicide. They would not say what sparked the move.
Chen was described as a 44-year-old Chinese woman of medium build and 1.56m tall. She was last seen wearing dark trousers - possibly blue jeans - and a white fleece top.
