Winnipeg police investigating first homicide of 2013

Winnipeg police are investigating a homicide with two separate crime scenes.

Officers were first called to Kylemore Avenue in the south Osborne neighbourhood on Thursday morning about a stabbing, then later in the day, at about 1:30 p.m., they were called to Pear Tree Bay in south St. Vital.

Residents told CBC News there was a heavy police presence focused on a vehicle parked on the street. Officers then set up privacy screens around the car while they worked for the next four hours.

Police confirmed the two incidents were related, and officers were now investigating Winnipeg's first homicide of the year. Few details have been released about the incidents but more details are expected Friday morning.
