Pair on murder charge before Toowoomba court
TWO of four people charged with murder arising from the death of a 43-year-old man on Christmas night have had their matters mentioned before Toowoomba Magistrates Court.
Anthony David Joseph Phillips, 26, of Kippa-Ring, and Douglas Allan Phillips, 22, of Caboolture, were not in court for the brief mention.
Both are charged with murder arising from the death of a man who was found with serious injuries in the yard of a Nina Ct home in Morayfield about 9.30pm, December 25.
The injured man was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital but died a short time later.
The pair was arrested by Roma police at Muckadilla on December 30 after responding to reports of a car speeding on the Warrego Hwy between Roma and Mitchell earlier that day.
Two other men, a 20-year-old from Deception Bay and a 31-year-old of Kippa-Ring, have also been charged with murder arising from the man's death.
None of the accused has been required to enter any plea to the charge.
Solicitor Nathan Bouchier, for Anthony and Douglas Phillips, told the court his clients' matters were to be transferred to the Caboolture Magistrates Court which held jurisdiction as to where the alleged murder had occurred.
Noting the other two accused were due to face Caboolture Magistrates Court on March 15, Magistrate Bruce Schemioneck remanded both Phillips in custody to appear in that court on the same date.
