Homicide investigators search Regent Park 'crime scene'

Toronto police say they are executing a search warrant inside a Regent Park highrise where a teenage boy was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in a stairwell two days ago.

Homicide investigators are probing the fatal shooting of 15-year-old Tyson Bailey, a high-school student who did not have a criminal record.

On Friday afternoon, Bailey was found inside the 13th floor stairwell at 605 Whiteside Place, a highrise building operated by Toronto Community Housing.

Police say he was bleeding and surrounded by shell casings. They believe the shooting was targeted.

The teenager was rushed to St. Michael's Hospital, where he later died.

On Sunday afternoon, the murder squad tweeted that its officers were executing a search warrant "on the 13th floor of [the] Whiteside Place crime scene."

In 2010, two other teenagers were shot dead when exiting an elevator at the same Whiteside Place building. They had just left a party at the building when they were killed.

Flint's battlefield: A three-year murder map

FLINT, MI -- There have been 189 murders in the city since 2010. Below is a map of the locations of each murder in the last three years, as well as the names of the slain on Flint's battlefield. The spike in murders occurred almost immediately after large-scale layoffs in March of 2010. By year's end the city had set a record with 66 murders, breaking the previous mark of 61 set in 1986. Killing continued in 2011 with 57 murders. A look at the map shows the majority of the murders took place on the north and east sides, historically the most economically depressed areas of the city. Just 25 murders in the last three years occurred south of Court Street. The map is color-coded by year.
