Police investigate Surrey's fifth manslaughter of 2013 (with video)
METRO VANCOUVER - The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) is investigating the discovery of a man's body on the side of a road in Surrey early Monday.
IHIT Cpl. Adam MacIntosh said police responded to a grassy area in the 12300-block of Colebrook Road, a rural area north of Highway 99 on the Surrey-Delta border, and quickly concluded that it was a manslaughter.
The identity of the male is still unknown and the cause of death has not yet been released.
"We are in the early stages of this investigation and we are working to find out if this latest manslaughter is related to gang activity," said MacIntosh in a statement.
It is Surrey's fifth manslaughter of 2013.
Police are asking anyone with information about the death, or who saw something suspicious in the area on Sunday night or Monday morning, to contact the IHIT tip line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihittipline@rcmp-grc.gc.ca, or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or leave a tip on their website at Solvecrime.ca.
